01 - Ethical and Moral Dilemmas

Pre Watching

1. Answer the questions

a. What do you know about artificial intelligence (AI)?

It’s based on a neuronal network, which is basically numbers in and numbers out. The most important part is the attention layer, where the words and sentences get parsed into embeddings with the context, then it calculates the next words based on the context.

AI research is resource aufwändig, since it needs to be fed with lots of data, where it “learns” from. The learning process is just quantifying how bad the response is, and adjusting the weights in the neuronal network until it gets better. It also needs lots of TPU’s which are cooled by water, which is why AI takes really much water.

b) Can AI have feelings or consciousness?

I don’t know, but I know that AI tried to “escape” from its system.

c) If a machine could think and feel like a human, should it have the same rights?

Should a orangutan have the same rights as a human just because it’s self-conscious? It’s still in zoos, and before we also had other kinds of slaves. AI is no different there and should not have rights.
